Pope County, Spring Bird Count May 6th and 7th

May 6th and 7th – Statewide Spring Bird Count. The Shawnee Chapter does a bird survey of Pope County. Participants are to identify species and count their numbers in assigned areas. Call 618-564-2079 for assignment. It is a 24 hour count but we will welcome anyone willing to survey for at least three hours. We can count either day but not in the same area. Feeder watchers are welcome to participate if they live in Pope County but call first for instructions. Results are sent in to the Illinois Natural History Survey for compilation.
